All,
RPM's of sane-backends-devel-1.0.6 / sane-backends-1.0.6, incorporating
the 0_40_13 build USB drivers can be downloaded from
http://kyrian.ore.org/RPMS/
My testing so far confirms that scanning (on a UT12, under kernel
2.4.17) works, repeatedly, without crashing the system, or locking it
up, or requiring a reboot mysteriously afterwards.
I've found a little level of (black) "noise" on scanning in black and
white images, but not had time to experiment with the driver settings to
see if I can tune this out.
Also, the default SANE settings seem to be a bit dark, and possibly low
contrast, but certainly the XSane brightness control impacts the
brightness of the resulting image, which is ok :-)
More test results when I've done them.
Oh, and by the way, Merry Christmas all. Stay safe and rootkit-free.
