Thanks Gerhard, this certainly seems to fit the facts. I did download
plustek-sane-0_40_14.tar.gz and opened it, as instructed, in the
sane-backend file before configuring and installing, but the .conf file
had no mention of USB. However, on instructions from Gene Heskett on
this list I added USB stuff, but it made no difference. Are you saying
that the actual sane file needs to be different as well? Or has my
plustek file simply not installed properly?
Should I now uninstall the current setup then just install the rpm? I
see there are two - i386 and src. I presume I want the i386, but what is
the src one? My setup is i586 (Mandrake 8.1 on a Dell Inspiron 7500 P3).
Can you be kind enough to tell me in simple terms how I uninstall the
current setup, as I'm a bit of a tyro in these matters? Or do I just
need to reinstall the plustek file?
