I have got funny results trying to scan negative films.
Each time I scan the frame I've got different colors.
Of course with exactly the same parameters like contrast or brightness.
You can see the example of 8 consecutive scans here:

Scanning negatives using scan source transparency gives the proper
results (everytime the same).
plustek-sane-0_40_15, sane 1.0.6, UT24,
linux 2.2.20, AMD K6-2 400, IDE disk... ;-)
