Hi all,

I'm working on a new project around the PIC12F629. I never used this
part before, but it seems very similar to the 12C509 with some
additional features, most important of which is flash instead of EPROM.
I can't use MPLAB because I'm working on all-Linux systems these days.

Has anyone used gpasm to generate code for this specific device before?
I would like to hear from you before I sit down and compare bitfields in
the instruction sets... :)

Hi Lewin,

I don't know, why this chip is called 12Fxxx, the core inside is like
the midsize 16Fxxx. I have used it with a headerfile derived from the
16F87x, only some peripherals are missing.

Regards Ulrich

Thanks, you've saved me a from lot of time wasted looking!

gputils-0.10.6 has the 12f629 header file. Did you have a problem with
it?

Hi Craig,

I must confess I use a PIC C-compiler under W$ because I like the debug
features of MPLAB and ICD. I have just ordered an ICD2. For this you can
get a special probe arangement with a bond-out chip to use it with the 8
pin Flash parts without loosing ports. I like the 8 pin chips, they are
versatile like the old 555 timer. Connect power, flash a programm and go.

web.de is the largest german mail hoster with some million users, there
are of course some not so honest ones between them.
