Last I checked I couldn't find a completed data sheet containing the instruction set. Scott

There aren't any "buy" links on the Microchip site, and none of the distributors have any. They're still in "Real Soon Now" state, which means that we may see them anywhere from next week to never.

A traveling Microchip factory rep was in my neck of the woods recently and we had a long talk. I wouldn't expect the DSPic to be available from Digikey for another year. If you are a glutton for punishment then you might be able to talk your way into being an alpha tester for later this year. Microchip appears to be going thru several generations of the DSPic design and is willing to gather what they know, rip everything up and create another generation to make it better before mass production. The delay is they have gone thru more generations than they originally expected would be needed. The issue hasn't been, "the tools and silicon didn't work." Other interesting news (to me at least) was USB interface for the ICE-4000. And maybe even the ICE-2000. And maybe he said a USB ICD as well. -- David Kelly N4HHE, ####@####.#### ===================================================================== The human mind ordinarily operates at only ten percent of its capacity -- the rest is overhead for the operating system.

If it is anything to go by though, there is a lot of interest in dsPIC and having the support for that device family would be a definite bonus. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Scott Dattalo" ####@####.#### To: ####@####.#### Sent: Saturday, January 17, 2004 12:13 PM Subject: dsPIC > > Is anyone looking at the MicroChip's new dsPIC processors for any designs? > Or asked differently, how important is it to add support for the dsPIC > processors in gputils and gpsim? > > Scott > > > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > To unsubscribe, e-mail: ####@####.#### > For additional commands, e-mail: ####@####.#### > >

Certainly when available they will be very useful for low-end and mid-class DSP applications. I'd like to use them in a few didactical designs for my students, or even some serious biomedical data acquisition applications.
