All,

Shall I dare to dream about dsPIC support in my favorite set
of PIC tools? They're finally shipping samples to the unwashed
masses and I have a number of projects that they would work
great with, but I'm lothe to drag out a windows box to do it.
But, I will, if I have to.

Cheers,
David

Didn't they retarget gcc for dsPIC?

There's no readme, but for both the assembler and the compiler (separate
tar balls) do this:

./configure --target=pic30
make
make install

and then append your path:

export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/pic30/3.3/

That gets the tools. I'm stuck on the include files. I tried installing
mplab 6.50 under wine, but it failed. So whenever I get to a windows box
I'll have to repeat that experiment and snarf the includes.

Wow, that does look like it. I can't find a page that talks about
it, do you have a link for that, as well?

Wow, now I need to learn GAS syntax. Fun. :)

Thanks, Craig.

David

And now I need to learn how to read a new object file format and simulate
a completely new architecture. Work! :)

I found that link at the bottom of the mplab page. There is some more
stuff here:

Hi,

I'm new to this list. I'd like to use the dsPIC range of devices from
Microchip, which have a very similar structure to regular PICs but
have, essentially, an extended instruction set. Is there any support
for these in gputils (or any other free tools), or are there plans for
adding it?
