Hi,

I've downloaded and installed sane backends 1.0.6 and then the latest
version
of your driver (0_40_10) and am having a few difficulties. I know its
developers
only but what hell I thought I'd give it a go. I've got a Plustek UT12,
using your
instrustions in the archive I've managed to get my system (Mandrake 8.1) to
recognise my scanner but all my attempts to communicate with it have failed.

Sane-Find-Scanner reports that it has found a scanner with the
following:
Vendor ID: 0x07B3 Product ID: 0x0001

The command "Cat /proc/bus/usb/devices" turns up with a version number
of 1.0. The ScanImage cammand can't seem to find the scanner, if I specify
the location (e.g. plustek:/dev/usb/scanner) it returns a segmentation fault
error message.

I did attempt to edit the plustek-devs.c file and add my scanner in but
this doesn't seem to have had any affect what-so-ever.

    Any advice would be appreciated,

Many Thanks,

Peter Johnson,

Hi, the problem is, that Plustek has sold several UT12 types!
The early ones AFAIK use the parallelport stuff and a parallel to USB
bridge - they are in fact not supported. The only UT12 models, that
are supported have the 0x17 as product ID.

And it seems, that you have an older one - sorry
Gerhard

Oh well, if I do eventually get it to work I'll post it up for everyone.
