kernel-2.4.17 Re: Plustek USB driver - build 13 (aka LM983x driver)
From: Kyrian ####@####.#### Date: 23 Dec 2001 19:31:13 -0000 Message-Id: <3C2630B2.10A971B7@ore.org> All, I can happily confirm this to be the case for the UT12 under kernel 2.4.17, as I've scanned my first document in successfully, without a complete system hang with "Invalid Operand: 0000" happening. Expect an email from me tomorrow morning to the list with more detailed results, and location of RPM's of sane-backends including 0_40_13 plustek USB code :-) In the meantime, is there any set of tests in particular I should be doing to verify image quality/coloration/etc. is working okay? Yours, Kev. I'm off out to a gig now, so expect another email tomorrow morning > Subject: Re: Plustek USB driver - build 13 (aka LM983x driver) > Date: Fri, 21 Dec 2001 21:31:38 +0100 > From: Michael Häckel ####@####.#### > To: ####@####.#### > > On Tuesday 18 December 2001 19:27, Jaeger, Gerhard wrote: > > Hi list, > > > > this update of the LM983x scanner driver includes minor fixes - thanks > > to all who helped > > there are also some minor improvements, that make the usage much > > smoother. > > From what I can see everything works very well on the UT12. > Thank you. > > Besides that I'd like to point out, that in linux-2.4.17 the system hang is > finally fixed. From: Kyrian ####@####.#### Date: 24 Dec 2001 15:08:39 -0000 Message-Id: <3C2744A5.2FF187DC@ore.org> All, RPM's of sane-backends-devel-1.0.6 / sane-backends-1.0.6, incorporating the 0_40_13 build USB drivers can be downloaded from http://kyrian.ore.org/RPMS/ My testing so far confirms that scanning (on a UT12, under kernel 2.4.17) works, repeatedly, without crashing the system, or locking it up, or requiring a reboot mysteriously afterwards. I've found a little level of (black) "noise" on scanning in black and white images, but not had time to experiment with the driver settings to see if I can tune this out. Also, the default SANE settings seem to be a bit dark, and possibly low contrast, but certainly the XSane brightness control impacts the brightness of the resulting image, which is ok :-) More test results when I've done them. Oh, and by the way, Merry Christmas all. Stay safe and rootkit-free. K.
