I can't speak for any other packages other than gpsim, picp
and gputils, but I didn't have one bit of trouble building and
installing gputils or picp. With gpsim, I made at least one of my own
problems, but so far, it has only needed one special library and
everything else came right out of the Debian box so to speak. The
only confusion is that of trying to figure out what is missing to
cause which parts of the build to not compile. In the 14 years or so
I have been involved with UNIX, this is fairly painless compared with
all the manual configuration we used to do when installing mailers,
news readers, etc.
